Can you wait any longer? This is the first grape harvest from vines you planted and nurtured yourself. You're eager to pick at perfection. They look so juicy and fragrant.
Abundant amethyst clusters, entwined amongst the sturdy vines and multicolored leaves.
It's a labor of love, gently removing the delicious fruit, filling the baskets, careful not to bruise a single grape. Then in a blink of an eye there appears a blur of yellow. You hear the soft, high-pitched chirps, coming from the mottled gold and green leaves.
As you stare into the climbing, tangled vines you see them. A pair of cedar waxwings, glorious with breast plumage of brown and yellow. Their distinctive black masks and red and yellow feather hands make you chuckle. Like winged bandits, they have
stealthily started the grape harvest before you...one grape at a time!
