Many criminals had stood before the throne of Pilate in the great Judgement Hall, but never was there an accused man as tragic, and as unusual, as this man Jesus. The Roman centurions took pleasure in tormenting this quiet man, first scourging his back raw then garbing him in princely purple and crimson robes to mock the claim that he was King of the Jews.

Pilate knew this man was a political tool in the hands of the Pharisees, who feared his exploding popularity. But Pilate was stunned at Jesus' mute refusal to defend himself. Pilate wanted to release him—there was no corruption in this man, and Pilate was a fair judge. But Caiaphas the High Priest and his henchmen bullied and bribed the Jews to sway Pilate and put the fear of rioting and Caesar's wrath into him. In disgust, Pilate placed Jesus' fate in the merciless hands of his captors yielding to the Will of God and the words of the Prophets.

Internationally renowned artist Hector Garrido embues this epic scene of Jesus before Pilate with compelling power, portraying Our Lord's betrayal and acceptance of death with reverent majesty.

The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
