Throngs lined the streets of Jerusalem, sweeping the way with palm fronds and shouting. "Hosanna! Hosanna!" Even Zacchaeus the notorious tax collector climbed high into a sycamore tree to see the celebration of Her Beloved Son on this most joyous of all days—the day Jesus Christ entered the city in triumph.

While the crowds sang their songs of exultation, in Her heart the Universal Mother, the Immaculate Virgin, the Gracious Mother of Joy celebrated the peace and comfort Her Son Jesus Christ brought to this hungry world. And the eternal bliss of this splendid day, awash in sunlight and cooled by a soft breeze, is for those who pray for the Mother of Jesus to petition Her Son on our behalf for the forgiveness of our sins.

Here, in this splendid sculptural masterpiece, the Blessed Virgin Mother is depicted in a radiant moment with Her Holy Son, cradling the Joy of the World tenderly in the crook of Her arm. In Her other hand She holds a palm branch as a symbol of God's promise of the joyful life eternal.
