The lush forest colors of mid autumn, pretty as they are — a symphony of subdued reds, subtle yellows, and many shades of woody brown — are no match for the sheer drama generated by a pair of golden eagles in Plate Two of Robert R. Copple's New Horizons collection.

Portrayed in such a tranquil, remote setting, Robert R. Copple's golden eagles nevertheless emanate all the power that these large birds are known to have, literally "The Power of Gold". These barely adult raptors (they still show the white tail base that will be lost in the next few years in a progression of molts) already possess the adult eagle's most striking characteristics: the enormous wing span, the small but powerful bill, the massive claws and legs that are feathered all the way down to the toes, and, of course, the golden-buff feathers of the crown and nape for which these birds are named.

Another exquisite example of the Illusionary Images technique —Mr. Copple's innovative fusion of painting and nature photography - "The Power of Gold" is as magnificent and forceful as its name implies.

The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
