Nosy Neighbors collection, "Cat Nap" by artist Persis Weirs. First issue
Quantity:
Nosy Neighbors collection, "Cat Nap" by artist Persis Weirs. First issue in a numbered series. Bradford Exchange, 1995. Plate size approx. 8 inches. Suggested retail $60.00.

What an unexpected surprise! A family of cardinals wing down to peck a beakful of dinner, only to discover — oh, horrors! — a young tabby cat curled up for a snooze in the sunflower seeds!

Well, these intrepid songsters are not going to put up with such nonsense! Cats belong sunning on windowsills, stretched out on cool tile floors, or curled up in their
mistress's favorite chair ... not cat napping on a respectable bird's dinner table!

Cheeping indignantly, the regal songbirds hop along the bird feeder and rustle their feathers noisily in hopes of waking the slumbering feline. But the tabby only twitches an indifferent ear and settles deeper into her purring dreams.

Celebrated wildlife artist Persis Clayton Weirs has a unique and precious gift that she has shared with us here ... that is, a rare insight into the whimsical spirit of
nature. In "Cat Nap," the first issue in her limited-edition series Nosy Neighbors, Ms. Weirs presents a humorous moment between a sleek, sleepy tabby cat and a trio of fearless cardinals — traditional enemies caught in a comical encounter that could happen right in your own backyard!

The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was made in the U.S., a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully recreate the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was made in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the U.S.
