Nosy Neighbors collection, "Special Delivery" by artist Persis Weirs. Second issue in a numbered series. Bradford Exchange, 1995. Plate size approx. 8 inches. Suggested retail $60.00.
So close and yet so far! These two mischievous felines could sure use a pair of wings right now, like the beautiful ocean blue ones on their feathered friends safely perched amongst the apple blossoms.
But they'll have to settle for wishful thinking on this gorgeous summer afternoon. When it comes to bird watching, there's no better seat in the house than the cozy shaded comfort of a mailbox. With a little teamwork these two adorable tabbies were able to pry open the lid; and the mail inside makes a dandy cushion!
Just out of reach, the two bluebirds chitter merrily away while keeping a wary eye on their nosy neighbors. 'Perhaps they're discussing whether the cats know that tampering with mail is a federal offense.
Renowned artist Persis Clayton Weirs chose just the right scene to bring out the humor between cats and their elusive feathered friends.
"Special Delivery," Plate Two in the Nosy Neighbors series, is a heartwarming addition to your collection and a delightful way to recall all the frolicsome adventures that cats share together.
The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
