Precious Visions collection, "Brief Interlude" by Janene Grende. Second issue in the series. Bradford Exchange, 1996. Plate size approx. 8 inches. Suggested Retail Price $50.00.
Anna skips out into the garden, book in hand. After a morning of chores she looks forward to her favorite sofa and reading a novel in the warmth of the sun-drenched garden. Curling up under the blossom-laden arbor, Anna begins to read.
Suddenly a prismatic dot of color flashes out of the corner of her eye. Her breath catches in surprise at the fabulous treasure hovering inches away. It hangs suspended like a jewel-encrusted pendant, no bigger than the yellow honeysuckle and fiery scarlet lion's tail that intertwine and overspill so sweetly amid the white slats of the arbor.
Anna recognizes it as her bird... an Anna's Hummingbird! Its wings are a whirring blur of motion, fanning her rosy cheek. The sunlight plays along its back, dazzling her with kaleidoscopic beams of amethyst, then emerald, now gold. Ruby plumage covers its head and throat like an emperor's crown. It sips from a vibrant cup of honeysuckle and then zips away. Anna smiles happily and returns to her novel...a lovely interlude in her day.
The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
