Precious Visions collection, "Brilliant Moment" by Janene Grende. First issue in the series. Bradford Exchange, 1996. Plate size approx. 8 inches. Suggested Retail Price $50.00.
Two sweethearts have slipped away from the party to spend a few romantic moments alone in the luxuriant garden. Strolling handin-hand they enter the fragrant, dappled shadows of an arching trellis. The bower is heavily laden with a shower of vibrant blooms ... showy red trumpet vines and royal blue clematis ... and strewn with puffs of baby's breath. A flash of kaleidoscopic color and a soft zephyr of air pass by, accompanied by the familiar whirring sound of a ruby-throated hummingbird.
"Do you know why hummingbirds hum?" the young man asks. She shakes her head. "They don't know the words!" He chortles at his own joke as she rolls her eyes.
A second prismatic dot flits by and pauses, hovering like a jewel-encrusted pendant on a floral chain. His brilliance is enhanced by the muted colors of the garden and the lush blooms that raise their delicate cups for him to sip. His plumage shines with the iridescent shimmer of rare rubies and emeralds. As the tiny bird zips away, the man says, "That fellow's colors remind me..." and he opens a ring box for another moment ... and a lifetime ... of brilliance.
The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
