Precious Visions collection, "Shining Instant" by Janene Grende. Seventh issue in the series. Bradford Exchange, 1995. Plate size approx. 8 inches. Suggested Retail Price $50.00.
In the dawn of a glorious spring morning, the last of the flower buds turns back its gorgeous petals like a little storefront raising its awnings up for business.
And what a booming business it is! Hummingbirds have been sipping nectar all day in order to satisfy their fast metabolism! With dizzying speed, their wings beat fifty times a second as they hover motionless over hundreds of nectar-laden reservoirs.
Two Allen's hummingbirds buzz onto the scene just as hungry as can he. Their iridescent red gorgets and green crowns refract the morning rays with shimmering brilliance. With wings blurred and bodies perfectly still, the hummers thrust their long joust-like beaks into the blooming red-violet hollyhocks and fuschias and anticipate the sweet and appetizing feast ahead.
"Shining Instant," seventh issue in the Precious Visions collection by acclaimed artist Janene Grende, is another striking example of her use of vibrant colors and meticulous detail—essential elements in capturing the dazzling presence of the Allen's hummingbird.
The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
