Sentinels of the Sky, "Midnight Track" by Cynthie Fisher. Fourth issue in the series. Bradford Exchange, 1997. Plate size approx. 8 inches. Suggested Retail $60.00.
Four wolves ghost over the smooth, glittering contours of snow on this frosty, clear night. The blue-white radiance of the full moon casts long shadows over the drifts. Their breath steams in puffs of pearly mist as they lope across the thick ice that cakes over the river. Only a thin crescent of diamond-dark water flows freely, a filigree lacework of crystalline ice fringing its edges.
The wolves are casting about for the elusive, musky scent of caribou who migrated from the vast tundra into their winter shelter of the treeline before the first snows fell. In a cycle as old as time, the wolves journey with the caribou.
Far, far above the wolves, yet seemingly so close, the white fire of stars bums brighter, forming a shadowy silhouette of The Alpha Wolf. the Ancestor. Lifting his star-strewn muzzle, he howls soundlessly to the full moon, singing the wolves' timeless hymn to the hunt.
With the deft interplay of rich hues, vibrant dimension, textures, and glowing light that has earned her considerable acclaim on the collector's plate market, Cynthie Fisher unfolds this stunning fourth issue in her intriguing wolf series, Sentinels of the Sky.
The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by many skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the U.S.
