Spirit Journeys collection, "Summoned Spirits" by Julie Kramer Cole. First issue in this series. Bradford Exchange, 1996. Plate size approx 8.5 by 6.5 inches, Oval. Suggested Retail $50.00.
Two foolhardy braves approach a rival tribe's camp, not realizing they are treading on sacred ground. All at once, the sky darkens, ominous black clouds gather and jagged shafts of white lightning crackle through the air and spear the earth beside them.
Their ponies squealing in panic, the braves turn and run for their lives. Behind their frightened retreat, the tipis of the camp glow and the rocky ridge turns an eerie shade of gold. Slowly the mountain peaks become images of honored tribal elders and the face of the late chief appears on the cliff side.
There is more! With her "hidden image" artistry, Julie Kramer Cole also reveals the spirits of the stealthy cougar, the majestic eagle, the giant elk, the great buffalo, and the wise wolf. It is clear that the spirits are angry. For these are sacred ancestral grounds and will be protected. Forever it is so.
The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
