The American Bald Eagle Plate to Honor America and to commemorate our Bicentennial. By Boehm. Limited issue. Made in England. Plate size approx 10.75 inches. Suggested Retail $132.00
HonorAmerica is a program of the American Historic and Cultural Society which was initiated in 1970 to increase the knowledge of the American public about its cultural heritage, constitutional form of government, and history.
This program is non-partisan and non-political. The board of directors include men and women representing all walks of life. Its objective is to tell what is good and great about America and to increase appreciation of its virtues in the hearts of all Americans.
Design of the commemorative plate is from the porcelain sculpture of the American Eagle created by the world-renowned artist, Edward Marshall Boehm. The edition was completed in 1961.
The Great Seal of the United States, and the Eagle on the Boehm plate are in pure gold, as is the plate border. Chosen as a symbol of the then young Republic, the majestic eagle is a bird of dignity, matchless courage and boundless love of freedom. It also symbolizes America's self-reliance.
The Honor America Boehm plate is of bone porcelain, ten and one-half inches in diameter, with blue leatherette case. Limited issue of 12,000.
A royalty from the net proceeds of the sale of this commemorative Boehm plate will be paid to the American Historic and Cultural Society, sponsor of the Honor America program, to support a continuation of its work.
