Song, the alpha female of this small wolf family, cannot resist the sparkling allure of a mild, beautiful winter's day. Song is feeling as impish as a pup this morning. Her spirits are jubilant, glad to see the endless arch of azure sky and the blazing sun after months of gloom. A mischievious twinkle glimmers in her gold-coin eyes as she spots her mate-for-life, Silver, settling down with a grunt for a nap in the fragrant, dry softness under a pine. With a bound, Song whacks a heavily laden bough, sending a shower of snow and ice cascading over Silver's grizzled head! He yelps in surprise, and the chase is on, Song dancing. merrily ahead, both their tails wagging flamboyantly. They circle at top speed around a pine until Silver takes a shortcut through the branches and barrels rambunctiously into her. They pause, and Silver laves Song's muzzle and ear with wet, loving
wolf-kisses, their massive jaws open in estatic canine smiles.

In this lighthearted third issue of the Timberland Secrets collection, wildlife artist Linda Daniels reveals these fearsome wolves are really playful practical jokers—just like any man and woman in love.

The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
