Narrow icy streams cut small gorges in the ground and zig zag through the wilderness like thin lines on a map. Lining the banks stand hundreds of prickly pines and conifers, burdened with heavy blankets of white, and riddled with blue and red berries.

Huddled warmly within a dense cluster of cedar, a gray wolf begins to dream. His mind races with memories of his pack, midnight prowling, and a giant silver moon filling the sky. He sees images of his brothers by his side, forever bonded in fraternity.

The pack is inseparable, roaming the countryside together. They speak in moans and howls, each intonation signaling everything from distress to their location. They have adapted to winters, often hunting in bone-chilling temperatures.

Keen, alert, wise, the gray wolf is the old sage of the forest. His perception is remarkably acute and
with each changing season, he proves himself a master of survival.

But, like all animals, this brave and vigilant warrior must sleep—and in doing so, renew his strength for the challenges of the wild that lie ahead.

The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and per manently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
