.The Baldwin Locomotive Works Logging Locomotives Owing to the variety of conditions existing in logging operations, a large number of different types of locomotives are required for this class of service In some cases these engines are chiefly employed in making short hauls in the woods, where steep grades, sharp curves and uneven tracks are encountered (21 different engines are shown) * Double Ender Locomotives The most desirable type of direct-connected locomotive for logging service, where curves are sharp, tracks uneven, and it is frequently necessary to run backward, is the double-ender. In this design a two wheeled radial truck, with swing-bolster, is placed under each end of the locomotive.
(23 different engines are shown)
