Visions of the Sacred "Spring's Messenger" by Diana Stanley. Second issue in the series. Bradford Exchange 1994 -- Suggested Retail $60.00
Through a brilliant glen brimming with new life rides Yanpa, the east wind and master of Spring. He and his powerful steed march relentlessly across the land –sweeping away the ice and cold left by his spirit brother Yata, the master of Winter. And in his wake Yanpa leaves the burgeoning renewal of nature.
Acclaimed artist Diana Stanley has captured the magicaf spirit of Yanpa and the deep faith of Native Americans in "Spring's Messenger," Plate Two in Visions of the Sacred.
Bluebirds and hawks take to wing and tend their nests. Bears with cubs and deer with fawns rediscover the abundance of the forest. Raccoons amble forth amongst daffodils and columbine. And even stoic wolves and mountain lions stand in awe of Yanpa's amazing and wonderful powers.
For the next three moons, the world is Yanpa's to kiss with rain and embrace with loving warmth. And from his largess, life returns to the land. This wonderful world of abundance is what he will relinquish to his sunny spirit brother, Okaga – the south wind and master of Summer who takes command when Yanpa's time is done.
The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
