Long, long ago the Earth was made, and the One Who Created All gave land to the People. They slept well and lived well upon it.

But one day a boy became ill. No one had ever seen sickness before, so they asked the One what it was. The One told them, "Everything on Earth has the power to cause illness, pain, and trouble. And everything on Earth also has the power to cure them."

A woman named Sweet Maiden took her daughter into the wood to find Earth's cures. The One guided them to willowbark to soothe fever and body aches, rue to aid digestion, camomile to cause restful sleep, foxglove to quicken dull hearts. and so much more. The One taught them songs to bring healing spirits into the body. And the One showed them the secrets of the medicine bag, and how to administer it to the People.

Sweet Maiden named her daughter Sweet Medicine, and together they cured the People with the power of the Earth.

Diana Stanley pays solemn tribute to the ancient lore of the Native American Indians with this outstanding series of fine collector's plates, Visions of the Sacred.

The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
