Visions of the Sacred "The Medicine Woman" by Diana Stanley. Twelfth issue in the series. Bradford Exchange 1995. Plate size approx 8 inches, (8.5 inches on the Diagonal). Suggested Retail $60.00.
The old shaman walked alone, high into the cool mountains. The eastern sky was only beginning to streak with spots of red and gold. He looked back at his village and saw the dim shapes of tipis, a pony stamping off the early morning chill, and a cooking fire being roused from its slumber.
It was very troubling. The buffalo did not come into the valley of the sacred spires as they had for generations of his people. The best hunters would search for days and come back with nothing. The winter would be impossible to survive without the buffalo's warm robes and nourishing meat.
The shaman climbed high into the heavens, searching for guidance, until his old and weary body could carry him no further.
He collapsed above the trees, with only the stars as cover. It was there that he had the vision of "The Medicine Woman," the twelfth plate in your Visions Of The Sacred collection, dressed in white with deer on her left and a young wolf by her side.
When the shaman saw the sacred woman he knew in his heart that once again his people would be blessed by the buffalo.
The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,4600 Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
