Whispering Wings - "Splendid Encounter" by Janene Grende. Fourth issue in the series. The Bradford Exchange, Production date 1996. Certificate of Authenticity. Plate Size approx 8 inches -- Suggested Retail $50.00
A busy hummingbird garden starts with every shade of red—salvia, petunia, pink fuchsia, scarlet begonia, or the fiery orange-red of these lovely pansies—because during migration especially, hummers need to recognize good nectar flowers without having to search for them, and red is a good clue. But any sweet-smelling flower will entice them, like the honeyed chalices of bluebells.
These brilliant Costa's Hummingbirds have discovered a floral feast. Wielding their slender bills like fairy wands, their magnificent plumage flickers in the sun from metallic green and olive on the body, to royal purple, magenta or ebony on the shining gorget. There's one, two...no, three... there's a black-chinned hummer to introduce Plate Five...how many birds can you, find in Janene Grende's lavishly colored vision, "Splendid Encounter?"
The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by an international cadre of skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate hotly at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by talented craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
