Wings of Glory collection, "Paragon of Courage" by James R. Spurlock. Fourth issue in the series. Bradford Exchange, 1995. Plate size approx. 8 inches. Suggested Retail $50.00.

It has been called America's "last frontier," so incredible and pristine is its natural beauty. Olympic National Park in northwest Washington state is home to a wide variety of wildlife and flora. But the skies above this scenic wonderland are ruled by one mighty monarch—the bald eagle.

For the fourth and final plate in the Wings of Glory collection, artist Frank Mittelstadt puts you on remote Ruby Beach as the sun sinks in the sky. Here, you are witness to one of nature's grandest spectacles—the effortless flight of an eagle gliding along the gently rolling surf.

Mr. Mittelstadt has expertly rendered the magical effects of sunset in this remarkable work. Note the dark silhouettes of the rocky outcroppings against the blazing sky, and the backlighting around the eagle's wings. The artist has also created a true sense of
motion in the waves, simply by adding a few rippled shadows on the shoreline and on the surface of the water. How easy he makes it for you to imagine the sights and sounds of the moment!

Enjoy "Paragon of Courage"—the spectacular end to an inspiring series.

The creation of the fine collector's plate you have just acquired and whose authenticity is certified by this document is the result of work by many skilled artisans. After the plate art was created in the United States, a fine ceramic transfer, incorporating pigments carefully chosen to faithfully re-create the vibrant beauty of the artist's original, was created in France and Germany and permanently fired into the fine Japanese porcelain plate body at more than 1,460° Fahrenheit by craftsmen and craftswomen in the United States.
